Have you been thinking about upgrading your sliding or overhead doors? Are you wondering how difficult that might be? Or do you have installation questions about the new bifold door that you have already ordered?
At Diamond Doors, we know that purchasing a new door or building can be a significant investment. We believe that your new bifold door experience should be simple and stress-free. That’s why we design our doors for easy installation. By designing and manufacturing a door that is easy to install, Diamond Doors is helping customers reduce costs and avoid installation headaches.
Let’s look at five ways that a Diamond door makes installing a new door on your shop or hangar easier.
Easy Installation Bifold Door Design
We started with the basics. Our founder says, “My idea had been that when we build a door, the buyer should be able to install it with ease. Often customers would have to hire extra help to put up a door. It would take days to install. There were many components to assemble. This cost them extra money. Why not have all that assembly done in manufacturing?”
When we design our doors today, we hold to that same principle. With the exception of very large doors*, the frame is completely assembled upon delivery. We also include all the necessary mounting hardware for your building type. This saves you time before your door even arrives, as you don’t need to purchase the hardware separately.
We ship our doors with the frame pre-assembled, wired, and ready to be installed. When the door arrives on site, you can have it securely hung on the building within three hours.
*Due to shipping restrictions, some large doors must be split for transportation. This will require some onsite welding when your door arrives.
Pre-Installed Bifold Door Features
Another way that a Diamond door makes the installation process easy is by pre-installing as many door features as possible to the door frame.
Some door manufacturers sell their doors as kits, leaving the customer to install the lifting mechanism, safety features, electrical system, and other components on their own. Diamond Doors simplifies that experience by pre-installing most of the door components.
Wiring and Electrical System
We install the wiring and electrical system before delivering your door to your building site. All wiring leads to a colour-coded junction box at the top of your door for easy connection to your building’s electrical system. This makes installing the start/stop station and photoelectric safety sensors hassle-free.
Another huge benefit to your wallet is our certified electrical box. Our Genesys Electrical Box is UL325 and CSA 22.2 certified – the first dual certified electrical box on the market. No matter if you are in Canada or the United States, the door’s electrical system won’t require a costly inspection after installation.
Lifting Mechanism
The Diamond Doors lifting mechanism includes the driveline, lift cables, electric lift motor, and gearbox.
When your door arrives, you will notice that the components are all installed on the door frame, but that the lift cables need to be mounted at the top member of the door. This is easily done with a simple bolt connection, as the cables are crimped in-factory.
The electric lift motor is factory-tested before shipping and is fully operation upon arrival. This minimizes the time needed to prepare your door for installation.
Locking System
Whether you ordered the single lever locking system or the autolock system, it arrives pre-installed and ready for operation on your door. They arrive in the locked position and will not need to be adjusted upon arrival. Simply install your yellow locking catches on your door jambs and your locking system is ready for use.
Thorough Installation Manual
We’re hard at work continuously improving our installation manuals. The installation process varies depending on your building type, and we’ve created dedicated manuals to guide you through the process. With detailed pictures and explanations, you’ll find it easy to install the bifold door.
The install manuals include:
- A detailed list of the tools necessary to install the door.
- A guide to safely unloading and hanging your bifold door.
- Images of the parts included with your door for quick reference.
- Installation instructions for different building structures and materials.
- And a troubleshooting guide for the electrical components.
