private hangar double large doors

What does a commercial bifold door cost? A closer look at the price of your shop or hangar door.

If you are wondering about the price of your bifold shop or hangar door, you are not alone. It can be a large investment, and it makes sense that you would want as much information as possible on the price of your bifold door.

At Diamond Doors, we are committed to operating with honesty and integrity. We are transparent about the pricing of your door so that you know exactly what you are getting for your dollar. With that in mind, we’ve created a guide to walk you through your bifold door quote. Here is a glimpse into what you can expect to see.

Our Standard Bifold Door Package

We believe in a quick and simple bifold door experience. Every bifold door package that we deliver contains everything you need for installation. That includes door components already installed to the pre-assembled door frame and mounting hardware to get your door hung and operational.

By including these features, you can fully install your door frame the same day we deliver it. This saves you time, energy, and cost on the building site.

Pre-Assembled Steel Frame

Our frames arrive pre-assembled. There is no need to weld or bolt the frame together, and you can hang the door directly to the building from the delivery truck. (The only exception is oversized doors that we split due to shipping restrictions.) Some manufacturers ship their doors as kits for the customer to assemble on site. However, we save you time and money by shipping a ready-to-install door.

And when it comes to installation, we provide a detailed instruction manual to guide you through the process. Even if you’ve never installed a bifold door, a little bit of common sense and instruction-following goes a long way. You’ll need a forklift or telehandler to lift the door into position, but no other special equipment is required for installation.

If you’re not comfortable installing the door yourself, we have a wide network of bifold door dealers and installers. Reach out to our sales team to find someone in your area.

Pre-Wired Electrical Control Box

Unless you are an electrician, chances are you don’t look forward to electrical work. That’s why we take care of the wiring for you.

We prewire your door frame during manufacturing, carrying the wiring from the control box up to a single junction box at the top of your door. This makes connecting your door to your building a simple job.

It also allows us to prewire and install other door features and options, such as the electrical lift motor and optional auto-lock system. We then test each electrical component before shipping, ensuring that your door is operational as soon as it is installed.

A Secure Locking System

Another component included in our standard door package is the single lever locking system. It uses a single lever to unlatch both sides of the door simultaneously, requires virtually no maintenance, and protects the door from accidental operation while locked with a safety switch, preventing damage to your building, door frame, or motor.

If you prefer a fully automated door, you can upgrade to our auto-lock system. When paired with our remote opener package, it allows you to operate your bifold door from the cab of your tractor or cockpit of your plane. Learn more about it here.

Bifold Door Mounting Hardware

We also include mounting hardware specific to your building needs. This can vary depending on the type of building on which you are installing the door.

For example, a typical wood building will require J-Channel roller tracks, a cable anchor kit, column support angles, and 1/2″ mounting bolts. All of these door components are included in our pricing, which saves you time and costs not having to find them yourself.

Insulation and Cladding for Your Bifold Door

If you order the insulation or cladding package for your bifold door, we ship it with your door and cut to length. This minimizes your time and costs simplifying installation. It’s as easy as aligning it with your door frame and securing it into place with our self-tapping screws – that also come along with the package.

The Cost of Preparing Your Building

While the door and installation are usually the most significant cost of upgrading your shop or hangar door, there’s a bit more to think about than that. If you are replacing a door on an existing building, you’ll need to also consider the cost of building preparation.

Of course, the cost of preparation varies quite a bit depending on the style and overall condition of the building. If you are hiring an installer, it’s always worth checking if their pricing includes preparing the building for bifold door installation.

We have a network of trusted bifold door installers across North America. If you are looking for someone to do the work for you, reach out to our sales team and we will be happy to refer you to a qualified installer.

Notes on Bifold Door Pricing

If you have requested quotes from multiple manufacturers, don’t forget to ask questions about what they include in their standard door package. It’s tempting to choose your door based on the final price at the bottom of the quote, but there’s a lot more to consider than just that.

It also pays to consider the long-term qualities of your door. How many years will your door be operatable? How much maintenance will your door require?

You can learn more about the long-term return on investment with a Diamond bifold door in this blog article, where we discuss cost savings in energy efficiency, long-term functionality, door safety, and more.

If you have questions about anything related to your quoted bifold door price, let us know. We would be glad to answer and provide more information on what you can expect from your Diamond door.
