Diamond Doors offers two kinds of custom corners to maximize the size of your bifold door.

Miter cut corners are typically used on wood frame building to maximize clear opening height or width without having the door extend past the roofline. Each miter is custom cut to match the pitch of your roof. Custom flashing attaches to your building and caps off the mitered corner to protect it from rain and snow.

Square cut corners are used on wood buildings with overhangs. Like the mitered cut corners, they are used to maximize your clear opening height or width without having the door frame extend past the roofline or interfering with your building’s overhang.

FAQ

Is it difficult to seal the custom corners?

With a miter corner, Diamond Doors provides an “L” angle trim that attaches to the building. This trim caps off the miter which prevents any rain from penetrating. For square cut corners, we recommend using drip flashing along the full length of the horizontal edge.

Does my wood building need additional bracing with a mitered corner?

The hinges on doors with custom corners are brought in toward the center of the door to accommodate the length of the miter. The weight and load of the corner hinges will need to be transferred into the building. Each application is unique, and our sales team would be happy to discuss the best solution for your project.
