3 Things you need to know before ordering your Diamond bi-fold door.

Be satisfied with your purchase by ordering the door best suited for your building.

We are all familiar with the sinking realization that you bought the wrong thing. No one wants to have to change their order after the fact or worse, after you received the product.

While we are happy to assist customers and come up with solutions, ordering mistakes inevitably cost you time and money. We have put together the 3 things you need to know before ordering so you can be satisfied with your Diamond bi-fold door and avoid the most common ordering errors.

1. Know which door features and options you need.

Our doors come with many standard features. Door options can be added on depending on your needs. It is important to know what features and options are available and add them to your door at the time of ordering.

Diamond Doors sales associates can walk you through the various features and options that are available to you. If you would like to do your own research, we have all our options and features listed online, with technical specifications, FAQs, and warranty. You can browse features and options or explore our virtual door tour.

The most common door add-ons after ordering are insulation, windows, polycarbonate sheeting, and auto-lock with the remote opener package.

If we can change the order before your door leaves the manufacturing facility, it’s easy to add the option onto your door. However, once your door has been shipped and installed, the options require conversion kits or additional costs to get the new components to you.

It is more cost effective to order options along with your door than to do it after the fact.

2. Source your fasteners (or purchase with your door).

Along with your features and options, it is important to know where you will source your exterior finishing and especially – fasteners.

As a manufacturer, we are able to supply fasteners at a great price for you. Especially longer more specialized lengths like 4” (used with our 3” insulation package). We have found customers struggle to find these longer screws at a comparable price.

If you are purchasing your door with a building package, we recommend purchasing your exterior finishing and fasteners from the building company, so everything matches.

Whether you decide to purchase from Diamond Doors, or another company, make sure you have all your door components ready at your site for installation.

The potential cost savings of finding a cheaper fastener alternative may not be worth your time and effort. If you don’t want your install day to be cut short because the fasteners are no where to be found – order them along with your door.

3. Provide the correct building voltage.

Your Diamond bifold door is available in single phase 230 volt, 3 phase 208 volt, and 3 phase 460 volt.

Although single phase 230 volt is the most common site voltage, if available, 3 phase is the preferred voltage for your door. Single phase electric operators require a total of 230 volts to run efficiently. If only single phase 208 volt is available, a buck booster will be needed to increase the voltage to 230 volts.

It is important for the functionality of your door to ensure your building electrical specifications are correct when ordering.
