Fort Mohave Hangar Home – Diamond Doors in Arizona

When Craig Narr built his hangar home in Fort Mohave, Arizona, he wanted a hangar door built with quality and convenience in mind. Craig says that he “was all over the interet, looking at some other doors., and I wanted a door that was a complete kit. I didn’t want to buy the door frame and then source the other materials.”

Then he found Diamond Doors, a Canadian hangar door manufacturer who ships each door pre-assembled and ready for installation. The frame is completely assembled and pre-wired with all the electrical components installed and tested in the factory, simplifying the installation process for each customer.

“I … was especially impressed with their insulation package,” added Craig. In Fort Mohave, Arizona, with summer temperatures easily reaching 120 degrees Fahrenheit (or almost 50 degrees Celsius), effective door insulation is extremely important to maintain temperature control and lower energy bills for a hangar home.

The insulated hangar home is three years old, and Craig is still impressed by the insulation package. “The insulation is incredible,” he says. “In the heat of summer, when the sun is setting and it’s super hot, you can walk up and touch that metal on the door and it’s still cool.”

An added convenience is the autolocking system on the Diamond door. “I have a remote control and I’ll be in my plane, and I can just shut the door from my plane.” This feature is extremely popular in aviation communities for the simplicity and convenience that it adds.

With fair pricing and quality manufacturing, it’s an easy decision for Craig. “If the door got destroyed or ripped off or went away, I would definitely buy another Diamond door.”

My name is Craig Narr. I live here on an airpark in Alpha Two Zero, Fort Mohave, Arizona. I bought my Diamond door three years ago and it’s been an outstanding product.

When we built this house, we bought an empty lot and we built and designed the house. I was all over the internet, looking at some other doors, and I wanted a door that was a complete kit. I didn’t want to buy the door frame and then source the other materials.

I ran across Diamond Doors and was especially impressed with their insulation package. Where we live, it can be 120 [Fahrenheit] during the day and our hangar door faces west. So when that sun sets, it’s incredibly warm.

The insulation is incredible. In the heat of summer, when the sun is setting and it’s super hot, you can walk up and touch that metal on the door and it’s still cool. My hangar is air conditioned so that stays nice and cool.

The neighbors come by and the friends come by and the first thing they notice is the colour. They said, “Did you paint that?” I said, “No, that’s the manufacturer, that’s the colour I ordered. It’s actually baked on, or whatever process they use.” That impresses them – the good looks of the door.

I have a remote control, and I’ll be in my plane, and I can just shut the door from my plane. The autolock will actually lock the hangar, whereas I don’t have to be inside and then go back to the plane. It’s convenience.

It’s a quality made product. Additionally, I priced it with some other door manufacturers and the price was just fair price. If the door got destroyed or ripped off or went away, I would definitely buy another Diamond door.
