Maverick Industries is a manufacturer of various types of products, one of the main ones being the Intersteel waste handling equipment. Maverick Industries needed a door for their welding shop that would give them the interior headroom to operate an overhead crane. The Diamond Doors team was able to provide them with a custom solution: a 16’x16′ bi-fold door installed to the outside of their building.
Through the sales process, we worked with President and CEO Kyle Wiebe to choose the features and options best suited for the project.
With a South facing wall, we recommended our Polycarbonate Sheeting for natural light. This is an insulated ship-lapped panel that was installed to the top of the door. This option is great for dark shops because it gives employee’s “a sense of understanding what time of day it is”.
Kyle says his “favourite feature would be the auto-locking system. It’s very nice to know that the door when it’s closed it’s pulled tight and seals properly.”
For commercial projects, we understand that quantifying return on investment is part of the decision making process. Kyle mentioned this was a large part of their decision when choosing a bi-fold door:
“[the] overhead door was cheaper than the bifold but when doing the cost analysis on the overall project, we realized that the bifold door was going to be a long term investment… [and] the return on investment was significantly better going to the bifold door.”

The Pitt Meadows air park was a project with over 70 doors. Installing all these doors seemed quite intimidating, but Dick Suderman, the founder of Diamond Doors, headed west to British Columbia to help the crew. In the words of airpark developer Brandon Warner after experiencing the ease of installing a Diamond Door, “the intimidation went away”.
Diamond Doors arrive onsite fully assembled, pre-wired, and finish painted, saving our customers valuable time (especially for large projects like this one).
We aim to make our process as streamlined as possible for our customers; from customer service and ordering, to shipping and after sale service.
Mike from Creative Doors partnered with us on this project; the Surrey British Columbia Public Works building. Door options added to this project included our auto-locking system, polycarbonate panels for natural light, and custom powder coated frame finishing.
We worked with architects throughout the project to design 8 bifold doors. From planning to construction, we provide valuable advice and suggestions to maximize the potential of your door and building.
For added safety, our Photo Electric Sensors created a curtain to ensure equipment of any size would be detected. Outside the building, the concrete pad in front of the doors was equipped with a pressure sensor. Pressure from equipment in front to the door would be detected and prevent the door from opening (avoiding damage to both machinery and the door).
Mike says “the information Diamond Doors provided in addition to working directly with architects was key to us because they answered questions we didn’t know the answer to. Service is incredible. Always a quick response if we needed quotes and quick turn arounds.”
At Diamond Doors we want our partners to be confident that when they put their customers and architects into contact with us, we can provide them the information they require in a timely matter.
