A Diamond door is a great choice for your hangar.
Here’s a few reasons why.
Convenient and Dependable Door Operation.
A Diamond door makes it easier to access your hangar. Compared to sliding panel doors that are frequently difficult to move, bifold doors open at the push of a button. Add the remote opener and autolock package to make it even simpler.
Secure and Durable Hangar Protection.
Protect your plane and hangar with a durable bifold door. Our doors seal tightly against your hangar, keeping out harsh weather and unwanted visitors.
Spend Less Time on Door Maintenance.
Designed with fewer moving parts and built from quality materials, you can expect to spend less time on maintenance with a Diamond bifold door. Instead, you can spend more time doing what you love. Diamond doors are low maintenance and reliable.
Hangar Door Features and Options
Diamond aviation hangar doors are made specifically to your building, taking into account your building needs, structural support concerns, wind load ratings (hurricane/tornado resistant doors), and the headroom you need.
Our hangar doors are equipped with many industry leading standard features. Since each door is custom built for your hangar, you can add optional upgrades that suit your specific needs.

Electrical Auto-Latch / Auto-Lock
Add the convenient electric auto-lock to open your hangar like your garage door at home. A safe and reliable hangar locking system.
Natural Lighting Options
Bring sunshine into your hangar through your bi-fold with standard windows, polycarbonate sheeting, or a combination of both.
Door Insulation Package
Insulation panels are a rigid board polystyrene with a white interior liner. They are pre-cut in the factory for quick installation.
A Door for High Winds
Each Diamond door is engineered to the building location’s wind load ratings and with features specifically designed to protect against high winds, you can rest easy knowing your door – and building – is secure.
Greaseless Hinges
Our exclusive hinge design is completely maintenance free. The hinge bushings eliminate any creaking, functioning smoothly and quietly without regular greasing.
Non-overlapping Cable Lift System
At Diamond Doors, we believe that lift cables are the stronger, more reliable choice for bifold doors. Our non-overlapping driveline is a unique cable system that is long lasting, low maintenance, and solves many of the common issues of traditional cable doors.
Before & After Diamond Doors
Retrofit Aviation Hangar Door
If you are looking to upgrade your hangar door look no further. Our airport hangar doors are easily installed on existing buildings.
Arrives Assembled for Easy Install
Our doors arrive onsite fully assembled, pre-wired, and finish painted for easy installation. Unlike competitor designs that ship in pieces, our doors ship in an “A” frame, making retrofit hangar door installation a breeze.
Maximize Overhead Space
If you are looking to take advantage of your entire clear opening, a bifold hangar door can give you that. The self-supporting header can even extend past the roofline, giving you the maximum amount of overhead space that your hangar will allow.
The Support Your Door Needs
If your hangar doesn’t have the strength needed to support your new hangar door, upgrade to our self supporting header option. It supports the weight of your door without causing undue strain on the building. It’s a cost effective solution that doesn’t sacrifice quality.

Frequently Asked Questions About Aircraft Hangar Doors
Can I operate a bifold door in high winds?
We do not recommend operating a bifold door during high winds. While the door is designed to withstand high winds in the closed and locked position, having it open during extreme weather conditions could result in severe damage to your door, building, or property.
How difficult is it to install a Diamond door?
Installing a Diamond door is relatively simple. Doors can be installed with standard tools and equipment (including a fork lift or similar equipment). We provide a complete installation manual with every door to guide the installation process, and our service team is available to answer any questions that may arise.
What door sizes does Diamond Doors offer?
While common door sizes vary depending on industry, Diamond Doors manufactures doors of almost any size. We’ve built everything from general aviation hangar doors, quonset doors, farm shop doors, and a hangar door for the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada that measures over 100 feet wide.
What happens if I need to use my door when the power is out?
We have included an emergency manual opener on each door motor to ensure the door can be open and closed when there is a power failure. Each motor is equipped with a hex shaft, which can be used with a socket wrench or cordless drill to manually turn the motor.
How well does a bifold door seal against harsh weather?
A Diamond bifold door provides an excellent seal against harsh weather, especially compared to other door styles like overhead and sliding doors. We include several door components in our design that work together to provide a secure seal.
Can I install a bifold door on an existing building?
Yes, Diamond bifold doors are easily installed on an existing building. If the building is not capable of supporting the door, you can add the required structural supports to your existing building or ask about our self supporting header option.
Where can I find an installation crew for my Diamond door?
Diamond Doors has installation crews across North America. If you are looking to hire someone to install the doors you sell, or to service doors for your existing customers, give our office a call and we would be happy provide you with the names of trusted door installers.

Case Study
Jared Jestice’s Aircraft Hangar Door
Jared Jestice lives in Fulton County, Arkansas, surrounded by the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. He and his family own and operate Jestice Contracting, a construction company specializing in concrete and installing steel structures. “That’s on the side,” says Jared with a smile. “Flying airplanes is first.”
As far back as he can remember, Jared’s passion has been flight. His father was a pilot before Jared was born, and Jared’s first memory is of being in an airplane. “And so, at that point, I was already ruined,” he says…

We understand aviation.
Growing up in a small rural community, Diamond Doors founder Dick Suderman has always been fascinated with aviation. With years of experience as a commercial and general aviation pilot, it was only natural that he shared that passion with his family.
Now pilots themselves, and co-owners of Diamond Doors, his sons are dedicated to serving customers long after the sale is made. With a deep understanding of the aviation community, we’re confident that a Diamond door is a hangar door you can trust.
